Services
I work directly with the dying person, whether we begin months before the expected end of life, or only in preparation for vigil.
I offer a variety of options — you choose the ones that interest you and feel helpful at any stage of your journey.
Many sessions can be conducted remotely over video calls. For in-person services, I work in the Upstate NY area.
-
Advanced Directive
Completing an advance directive allows you to outline the medical decisions you’d like to be made when you can no longer speak or advocate for yourself. We will work together to complete the paperwork and ensure it’s distributed to your end-of-life team, healthcare professionals, and loved ones.
-
Presence & Support
I am here to provide emotional, spiritual, and physical support, including guided meditation, guided imagery, and reiki energy healing. A doula is a safe space to hold space for the dying person and loved ones to openly express what they’re experiencing.
-
Legacy Projects
Legacy projects are a beautiful way for the dying person and their loved ones to reminisce and create something meaningful to cherish after the dying person has gone — anything from an art project to a scrapbook, life review, or memoir.
-
Vigil Planning
A vigil plan empowers the dying person with the autonomy to make choices about how they want to be honored in their last days and moments of life — medication guidance for symptoms to what should occur at the bedside. This process can include loved ones, if desired.
-
Sitting Vigil
The dying process is emotional, intimate, and can be intense for caregivers. I am here to provide respite for caregivers and sit with the one who is dying to ensure they have someone to comfort them at all times.
-
Reiki
Reiki is an alternative healing technique in which a practitioner places the palms of the hands on a part of the body sending healing energy there. noun. It is used to help ease anxiety, stress and restore spiritual balance.
-
Plant Medicine
Sacred plants can help to decrease anxiety and depression at the end of life. Please let me know during our consultation if this is a path you would like to explore.
-
Reprocessing
Several weeks after the death, I will meet one last time with your loved ones for a reprocessing session. This session is a time for us to share our experience and stories of the loved one and talk about their death to continue on the grief processing journey.
-
Referral to Professionals
I am not a trained counselor or therapist and cannot provide counseling services. I do have a list of professionals in the Upstate NY area I can refer loved ones to for ongoing support during or after the death.
Learn more about how we work together
“Life and death are a package deal. But we have overprofessionalized death and forgotten how natural it is. We have turned an intimate experience into a technological phenomenon. We have forgotten what we know: we can trust in our ability to do this, to accompany each other.”
